Privacy

This page has two parts: how this website treats your visit, and the Privacy Policy of the Minute Studio app.

This website

Infinite Artifacts LLC runs minutestudio.app. The Privacy Policy below is about the app; this part is about the site.

  • No cookies. The site sets none. It stores nothing in your browser, except your choice if you turn off the counting of visits. Paddle, on the two checkout pages, is the exception, below.
  • Counting visits. Pages load Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you: the page, the site you came from, your browser and kind of device, your country, and how fast the page loaded. Turn it off for this browser with the switch at the foot of any page. It loads nothing if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track.
  • The server. Cloudflare serves the site and sees your IP address and the time of each request, as any web server does. The site keeps no log of them.
  • Buying. Plans and Renew load Paddle.js from Paddle, which sells Minute Studio as its reseller and merchant of record. To show your price, the page asks Paddle for it, so Paddle sees your IP address and the country it suggests. Paddle sets its own cookies, among them a security cookie from Cloudflare, and once checkout opens so does its payment processor, Stripe. Checkout is under Paddle’s privacy notice.
  • Renewing. On Renew, the license key you type goes to Minute Studio’s licensing server, which answers with when its updates end. If you renew, the key goes to Paddle with the order, so the renewal is added to the right license. The page keeps nothing.
  • Email. A message to support@minutestudio.app is kept to answer it. Write to the same address with any question about this page.

Privacy Policy

The app’s Privacy Policy, as it ships in Minute Studio 1.0.0, word for word.

Minute Studio runs entirely on your device

Minute Studio does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. This policy explains what that means in practice.

No data collection

There are no analytics, no accounts, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking of any kind. Infinite Artifacts LLC, the developer of Minute Studio, never receives your audio, transcripts, briefings, translations, or usage statistics.

Everything you record stays on your device

All processing happens locally: audio capture records your chosen source (system audio or microphone) on your device; transcription runs on a bundled on-device speech model; briefings are generated by a bundled on-device language model; and optional translation uses Apple's on-device Translation framework. No audio, transcript, briefing, or translation is ever transmitted anywhere, at any point, for any reason.

The only two things that use the network

Minute Studio contacts a licensing server, and only to start your trial, to activate your license, to keep it current, to move it to another device, or, when you ask for one, to get your referral link. Those requests contain an anonymous device identifier — a one-way hash of your device's hardware ID, salted so it cannot be matched to any other product's records — and, for a license, your license key or the order number it came from. Nothing else is sent: no recordings, no transcripts, no briefings, no filenames, no durations, no counts of how often you use the app, and no information about your device beyond that hash. When you release another device from your license, the request also names that device's identifier, which the server already holds. The connection is made to one server over HTTPS and stores no cookies or cache.

When Minute Studio is first opened on a device with no license, it asks the licensing server to start your trial, sending that device identifier alone. The server records the date it first saw the identifier and answers with a trial that runs 14 days from then, so reinstalling the app or clearing its data does not start a new one. If the server cannot be reached, the trial starts the next time it can be, as the app opens, wakes, or is brought forward. The trial contacts the server that once, and again only if its record on your device has been deleted or damaged; nothing is sent when it ends.

Beyond the trial, the connection is made when you activate a license, choose Refresh License, release another device, or deactivate this one, and otherwise only when your license is due to be renewed or confirmed — and then only as the app opens, wakes, or is brought forward. It is never made when you start or stop a recording, and never on a timer. A monthly subscription contacts the server about once each billing period, to collect its renewal. A yearly subscription or a perpetual license contacts it about two weeks after purchase and then about once a month, to confirm that it is still licensed on this device. Every license is confirmed at least once every 60 days: if the server cannot be reached for that long, recording pauses until it can, and everything you have already recorded stays open.

The second is checking for updates, and only when you ask. Minute Studio never checks on its own — there is no timer, no check when it launches, and no background task — so this happens when you choose "Check for Updates" and at no other time. It downloads one list of released versions. That list is a plain file, identical for everyone, and the request carries nothing at all: no license key, no device identifier, no version number, and no information about your device. Which versions your license covers is worked out on your device, from the list, so there is nothing to send and nothing for the server to learn. Minute Studio does not download or install updates either — it opens the download page in your browser and leaves the rest to you.

What those servers keep

The licensing server is operated by Infinite Artifacts LLC. It records which license keys have been activated, the anonymous device identifiers they are activated on, and when each was activated, last confirmed, and released, so that a license can be limited to two devices and moved between them, and so that an order that is refunded or charged back can be revoked. It also records, for each device that has started a trial, its anonymous device identifier and the date its trial started, so that each device has one trial; that record is kept after the trial ends, since removing it would start a new one. It does not receive, and therefore cannot store, anything you record.

When you buy Minute Studio, the purchase is handled by Paddle, its reseller and merchant of record. Paddle takes your payment, charges any tax, and sends your receipts, under its own privacy notice, and then tells the licensing server what you bought. The server keeps a record of each order: its license key and plan, when each payment was made and the period it paid for, whether a payment was refunded or charged back, and Paddle's reference numbers for the order and for you as its customer. It gets your email address from Paddle to send you your license key, which goes out through Resend, an email delivery service, and it does not store the address. It keeps only the address's first letter and its domain, such as p***@example.com, which the app shows in Settings as the person the license is for.

If you ask for a referral link, the server records the code it made for you, and the code is also a discount in Paddle, which sees it as it sees any other code. When a friend buys with it, the server records that their order came from you, and later that your reward was given. You see how many friends have bought, never who, and your friend's order carries nothing about you.

The update list is a static file on a web server. Because the request carries no identifier of any kind, there is nothing for it to record beyond what any web server sees when you open a page: an IP address and a time. No account, no license, and no device is identifiable from it.

Where your data is stored

Recordings (audio files) and session data (transcripts, briefings, translations) are stored in your user Library, on this device only. They are not encrypted at rest by the app; standard macOS protections such as FileVault apply. Anyone with access to your user account on this device can access this data.

You are in control

You can open any saved session at any time. Deleting a session also removes its saved audio file; deleted sessions can be restored from Recently Deleted until you purge them, after which removal is permanent. Removing the app's data, or uninstalling Minute Studio, erases all recordings and sessions.

System permissions

Minute Studio captures one audio source at a time, your choice: system audio (Screen & System Audio Recording) or the microphone (Microphone). It requests only the permission the selected source needs, and it never records the contents of your screen. Either way, everything stays 100% local. Permission grants are managed by macOS and can be revoked at any time in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security.

Keeping your data on-device protects where your data goes. It does not relieve you of any legal obligation to obtain consent before recording other people. See the Terms of Use for details.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a future version, the updated policy ships inside that version of the app.

Who is responsible, and how to reach us

Minute Studio is developed and published by Infinite Artifacts LLC, which is the data controller for the records described above and for any email you send it. For questions about this policy, to ask what it holds about you, or to have a license activation or a trial record and its device identifier deleted, contact Infinite Artifacts LLC at support@minutestudio.app.
